Departure
Arriving at Kardamena Port you will be escorted on the ferryboat that will be sailing you to the nearby island of Nisyros.

Guided Instructions
Upon reaching Nisyros, you will be driven to Laki Plateau, the site where the crater is. After the guide’s explanation you can visit the big caldera with a width of 30 metres and a diameter of 260 meters in its interior reaching it through a path. The volcano is regarded as dormant but it does present some signs of activity like boiled mud and steam.

Mandraki
After the visit we will drive back to Mandraki, the main town and port of Nisyros. This picturesque settlement of about 500 inhabitants is spread along a hillside. It is a charming traditional settlement with white-washed houses and narrow streets. Mandraki offers a variety of accommodation options, restaurants serving local cuisine, and shops selling traditional products.

Monastery of Panagia Spiliani
After visiting the volcano, make your way to the famous Monastery of ''Panagia Spiliani'' the Island's patron saint. Located in Mandraki, this picturesque monastery is built inside a natural cave and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding area. You will have plenty of free time to visit it, to admire the view, take pictures and to explore the picturesque village of Mandraki. Explore the monastery and take in the peaceful atmosphere.

Explore the Villages
Nisyros has several charming villages worth visiting. You will have plenty of free time to explore the picturesque village or to follow the guide on foot to visit this renowned Monastery and to be informed about the Greek Orthodox religion and about the Greek holy art. Consider exploring Pali, a fishing village with a scenic harbor and relaxing atmosphere. Walk along the waterfront, admire the colorful fishing boats, and try some fresh seafood at a local tavern.

Return Journey
After a day of exploration, head back to the port to catch the ferry back to your original destination Kos.
