Turkey – Bodrum Day Trip
About This Tour
Bodrum is called the “Saint Tropez” of the East because of the beauty of its shores and the international jet-set tourism. But its historical past is very interesting, too. In the ancient times where now Bodrum is there used to be Halicarnassus, the home town of the “father of the historical investigation” Herodotus ( 484 BC -425 BC) and the location of one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient world: the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, unfortunately destroyed by an earthquake at the beginning of the 14th century.
Once you arrive to Bodrum Port, the guide assisted by an official local guide, will escort you to the Castle of Saint Peter that was constructed by the same Knights of Rhodes who had built the Castle of Kos. The sightseeing tour will start from this point. Further we continue by coach and head to the wind mills where you will be enthralled by the breathtaking view of Bodrum Bay. Further, we continue to Myndos Gate, the main entrance of Halicarnassus famous for its bloody battle between Alexander the Great and the Persian Troops which took place in 334BC. Continuing back to the city centre, you will have free time to stroll the narrow streets full of shopping bazaars and quaint taverns. Lunch is not included.
